Jacques Brautbar’s work has been featured on Television, on the Radio and in Film. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jacques began his musical journey with the violin in first grade. Throughout his High School years Jacques performed in Choir and Jazz band receiving multiple performing arts awards and the prestigious Louis Armstrong Jazz award.

Jacques began his professional music career at the age of 15. As a founder, guitar player, arranger and songwriter for Sony Recording artist, Phantomplanet, Jacques collaborated on the band’s three singles, "California" - theme song to the hit show The O.C. - , "Lonely Day" and "Big Brat." These songs soon found an audience on MTV, international radio and movies. Jacques has worked closely with songwriters Jimmy Harry, Adam Schlesinger and John Farrar along with producers Mitchell Froom, David Fridmann and Peter Asher during his ten year tenure in the band. Working with these high caliber artists gave Jacques a hands on learning opportunity to learn the craft and discipline of writing and arranging popular music.

As a composer, Jacques has written scores to several student shorts and two full length documentaries, working closely with USC Filmschool Alumni. Who is Bill Beall, was an official selection at the  Philadelphia Film Festival in 2007. Without A Home, is currently being submitted to film festivals around the world.  As a composer for HUM, Beta-Petrol, New Math and Spank music houses, Jacques has had the opportunity to compose for the biggest names on the market including McDonald’s, Sears, Lexus and the NHL. Assisting at Hans Zimmer’s Remote Control facility in Santa Monica, gave Jacques an inside look into one of the world’s most prolific filmscore companies. Most recently, Jacques’ music can be heard on KCRW  in regular rotation on Chris Douridas' show New Ground.
